Microneedling in
Marietta & East Cobb
Advanced microneedling technologies – including SkinPen, VirtueRF, Subnovii plasma pen, and PRP – to stimulate collagen, smooth fine lines, improve texture, and restore a more youthful complexion under board-certified dermatologist oversight.

What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation technique that uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These microchannels trigger the body's natural wound-healing response, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin – the structural proteins responsible for firm, smooth, youthful skin.
At DESSNA, we offer a comprehensive suite of microneedling technologies – from traditional SkinPen treatments to radiofrequency-enhanced VirtueRF, precision plasma pen therapy with Subnovii, and PRP-enhanced protocols. Each approach is selected based on your specific skin concerns, treatment goals, and desired recovery time.
All microneedling treatments at DESSNA are performed by our licensed aesthetician team under the oversight of our board-certified dermatologists – ensuring you receive medically supervised care with the highest standard of safety and results.
Our microneedling technologies
SkinPen
Traditional microneedling at its finest. SkinPen treatments create tiny microchannels in the skin that stimulate collagen production, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and improve your complexion and the appearance of acne scars.
VirtueRF
A form of microneedling that uses radio-frequency heat energy to promote collagen production that tightens and lifts the skin. Especially effective on crepey skin, relatively painless, and requires no downtime.
Subnovii Plasma Pen
A revolutionary plasma pen therapy that targets tough-to-reach areas like the mouth, eyes, and jawline. Subnovii's low-frequency emission increases precision and decreases healing time.
Microneedling with PRP
The addition of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to microneedling increases the overall effectiveness of treatment and can be used with several microneedling options for facial rejuvenation and hair loss.
Why Your Skin Benefits from Microneedling
Microneedling works by harnessing the body's own healing mechanisms. Understanding the science helps us select the right technology and protocol for your specific skin concerns.
Natural Collagen Decline
After age 25, collagen production decreases approximately 1% per year. This gradual loss leads to fine lines, laxity, and thinner-looking skin. Microneedling triggers a wound-healing response that restarts collagen and elastin synthesis.
Cumulative UV Damage
Years of sun exposure break down collagen and elastin, creating uneven texture, enlarged pores, and dull skin. Microneedling removes the barrier of damaged cells and stimulates deep structural repair.
Acne Scarring & Textural Irregularities
Inflammatory acne damages the dermis, leaving behind depressed scars and uneven texture. Microneedling remodels the dermal matrix and stimulates new collagen to fill these imperfections from within.
Skin Laxity & Crepey Texture
Loss of structural proteins and skin elasticity leads to sagging and crepey skin. Radiofrequency-enhanced microneedling (VirtueRF) delivers thermal energy deep into the dermis to tighten and lift from the inside out.
How We Perform Microneedling at DESSNA
We customize every microneedling treatment to your skin – selecting the right technology, depth, and protocol to deliver visible results with predictable recovery.
Skin Analysis & Technology Selection
Your aesthetician performs a thorough skin analysis to assess your concerns, skin type, and treatment goals. We review your medical history, current skincare routine, and any contraindications. The right microneedling technology is selected – SkinPen, VirtueRF, Subnovii, or PRP-enhanced – based on your specific skin concerns, desired results, and downtime tolerance.
Microneedling Treatment Session
A topical numbing cream is applied 30 – 45 minutes before treatment. The selected device is then used to create precise microchannels in the skin. Treatment time varies by technology: SkinPen and VirtueRF typically take 30 – 45 minutes for a full face. Subnovii plasma pen is used for targeted areas around the eyes, mouth, and jawline. PRP is applied immediately after needling for maximum absorption.
Aftercare & Series Planning
Immediately after treatment, skin may appear red and feel warm – similar to a mild sunburn. We apply soothing serums and provide detailed aftercare instructions. Most patients require a series of 3 – 6 sessions spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart for optimal collagen remodeling results. Maintenance sessions every 6 – 12 months sustain and build on your results.
Microneedling Options at Our Marietta Practice
Your microneedling protocol is customized to your skin concerns, skin type, and goals. Here are the technologies and approaches we use to restore collagen, smooth texture, and rejuvenate your skin.
SkinPen Microneedling
Traditional microneedling using the FDA-cleared SkinPen device. Creates precise microchannels to stimulate collagen production, smooth fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture, and reduce the appearance of acne scars. Minimal downtime of 1 – 2 days.
VirtueRF Microneedling
Combines microneedling with radiofrequency heat energy for enhanced collagen and elastin production. Especially effective on crepey skin, skin laxity, and areas needing tightening and lifting. Relatively painless with no significant downtime.
Subnovii Plasma Pen
Revolutionary plasma pen therapy targeting tough-to-reach areas like the mouth, eyes, and jawline. Low-frequency emission increases precision and decreases healing time. Ideal for fine lines around the eyes and lips that other devices cannot address as effectively.
Microneedling with PRP
Platelet-rich plasma derived from your own blood is applied immediately after microneedling for maximum absorption through the microchannels. Increases the effectiveness of any microneedling treatment and can be used for facial rejuvenation as well as hair loss treatment.
Series Treatment Protocol
A series of 3 – 6 microneedling sessions spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart delivers cumulative improvement as new collagen continues to develop between sessions. Each treatment builds on the last for progressively smoother, firmer, more radiant skin.
Microneedling + Skincare Protocol
We pair microneedling with a customized medical-grade skincare regimen – including growth factors, peptides, antioxidants, and broad-spectrum SPF – to protect results, support healing, and maximize the longevity of your collagen investment.
Choosing the Right Microneedling Technology
Not all microneedling devices deliver the same results. Here is how our technologies compare:
Classic collagen induction – best for acne scars, fine lines, and texture
RF energy adds tightening and lifting – best for laxity and crepey skin
Plasma pen precision – best for periorbital, perioral, and jawline areas
Growth factors accelerate healing and amplify results of any technology
All treatments supervised by board-certified dermatologists
